Confession time: I LOVE WEDDINGS! The idea of all that planning and decorating gets my creative juices a-flowin’. So you can imagine how stoked I was to be selected as a vendor in this year’s Wedding Day Hooray put on by Atlanta’s Indie Craft Experience. This was my first time as a vendor at this event, and I had a great time! I met lots of amazing vendors (see shout-outs below!) and my entry for the Table Decor Contest won First Place! I loved putting this together and just wanted to post a little about the inspiration and ideas I incorporated. The rules were simple: you get a 48″ round table…aaaand GO. I knew I wanted to play with height, lots of textures, and vintage goodies that I’ve been collecting, all while keeping it inexpensive (I’ve double-checked. Money does not grow on trees.) It’s important to me with any display to bring the eyes UP and the “Just Hitched” banner (coming to my Etsy shop soon!) did just that. The block printed letters were a collaborative project (word up, Anna and Jo!) from a couple years back and I’m so happy to bring them back out in a new way!
It was also important to me not to get too girly with it. I like a nice balance of masculine and feminine in the details and color palette. Call me crazy, but I believe a wedding is about both the bride and the groom (or other bride, or both grooms) so I don’t really dig one-sided decor.
birdhouse by The Peregrine Consortium; all fabrics thrifted or remnant finds; leather belt table runner DIY post coming up soon; glass jars for candles were saved (I use them all the time at home); paper flowers by me (also coming to the etsy shop soon); white plates from Big Lots; glass plates thrifted; wood candlesticks thrifted, and I wrapped some with twine; planters thrifted; vintage yard sticks (holding up the banner) thrifted
I also thought that if this were my wedding, rather than spend an arm and a leg on cut flowers, why not use potted plants that can be re-planted after the big day? You’ve got wedding decor AND landscaping (or indoor plants) in one fell swoop! Two birds!
And finally, here’s my little wedding favor. I mean, who doesn’t love jelly beans and puns??
That’s it! I’d just like to give a big huge THANK YOU to everyone who organized, participated, and came out to the event! And to give some internet love to the kind and lovely vendors I had the pleasure of meeting:
My sweet and insightful booth neighbor Rebecca from Ever + Ever Jewelry, the talented Mark (I didn’t meet Leah) and all the interns from Leah and Mark Photography, Brandon from Bear Maker Bakery with the most heavenly bourbon balls and profiteroles I’ve ever tasted, Erin and Bryan from Tin Can Photography, the very friendly and helpful Liz from Liddabits, Chloe and Philip from The Little Canopy, and I know I’m forgetting a bunch! Everyone was wonderful and you should give them your business :) Here is the vendor list in case you missed it. Hope to see you next time!
